What are the ingredients?

Organic Palm Oil, Organic Coconut Oil, Organic Olive Oil, Organic Shea Butter, Organic Calendula Extract, Organic St. John's Wort & Rosemary Extract

Is this soap “Certified Organic?”

Our soaps are handmade with certified organic ingredients and are packaged in a certified organic facility. We do not currently have USDA Organic Certification.

Is this soap “tear-free?”

The ingredient required to make soap "tear-free" is a chemical additive. Therefore, while our soap is mild and may or may not bother your baby’s eyes, our soap is not considered “tear-free.” We always recommend keeping any kind of soap out of your baby’s eyes.

What does this soap smell like?

The Calendula Shea Butter Baby Soap is unscented, so there is no fragrant smell. Your baby will just smell like your baby after using this soap.

How long will one bar of soap last?

Your organic baby soap is handmade/cold-processed. This traditional pour and cure process creates an extra mild bath soap that lasts about twice as long as an average bar of soap.

How should I store/care for soap between uses?

In order to get the most use out of your organic baby soap, it is important to store properly in between uses.

We recommend using a slatted soap dish, outside of the shower/bath in a well-ventilated area for proper drainage. You want the soap to dry between uses.

Is it antibacterial?

While some of the ingredients in your organic baby soap have antibacterial properties, it is not considered an antibacterial soap.

Will it dry out my baby’s skin?

Your organic baby soap will not dry your baby’s skin as it contains no drying ingredients! Some organic soaps are not mixed properly and are left with high-pH alkali salts. Most soaps are full of these drying salts. Drying ingredients include: free alkali, alcohol, artificial fragrances, artificial colors, low-quality base ingredients, preservatives, too much coconut oil and even essential oils can dry out skin.

Your organic baby soap is perfectly formulated for your baby’s sensitive skin and will not cause drying, but encourage moisture retention.

What are the benefits of using a soap that has Calendula, Shea Butter, and St. John’s Wort?

Calendula is an amazing and very beneficial herb.

Potent anti-inflammatory and healing properties tend to the most sensitive of skin conditions.

Anti-fungal properties inhibit the overgrowth of yeasts such as the naturally occurring Malassezia furfur, which is the number one cause of cradle cap.

Shea Butter’s high concentration of vitamins and fatty acids make it an excellent moisturizer, healing aid, and dry skin remedy.

St. John’s Wort is known for its soothing ability to repair skin damage by encouraging tissue regeneration in damaged skin. It is anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial.

Will using this soap get rid of Cradle Cap?

Cradle Cap is a stubborn and sometimes difficult to manage, common skin condition in babies. In our experience, no one thing alone will “get rid” of cradle cap on its own. We have a free guide on cradle cap, prevention and elimination that will walk you through the steps to prevent as well as eliminate. Since cradle cap is preventable if you know it’s coming (other babies had it), we believe prevention is the best course of action. Our Calendula-Shea-Butter Baby Soap can play a big role in prevention as well as elimination as it was formulated specifically for preventing and eliminating this particular problem. As mentioned above, though, it’s important to understand that the soap alone may not do the job.

Organic Baby-Bath Sea Sponges

Instructions For Use:

  1. Thoroughly rinse sponge prior to first use.
  2. Use sponge, soap & water, or sponge and water to cleanse baby head to toe, including face.
  3. Rinse.
  4. Rinse sponge thoroughly, remove excess water and place in a well-ventilated area to dry.

What are the benefits of using Organic Sea Sponges?

Organic Sea Sponges are hypoallergenic gentle exfoliating cleansers. Our Baby Bath Sea Sponges are even gentle enough to use on your baby’s face. They are naturally full of body-beneficial minerals and enzymes, which also happen to inhibit the growth of bacteria, fungus, and mold. Organic Sea Sponges can be expected to last longer than synthetic or chemically processed sea-sponges.

What is the difference between an organic and non-organic sea-sponge?

Organic Sea Sponges:

Processing: Organic Sea Sponges are uniquely unprocessed in the sponge world.

Our baby sponges are harvested from the Mediterranean Sea, rinsed, trimmed, inspected for quality and then packaged for shipment to you.

Color: Your organic sea-sponge will arrive a brown or brownish-red color. This is the natural color of the sponge. The color comes from retained minerals, which are good for your baby’s skin.

Smell: Your organic sea-sponge will have the unique smell of the ocean, especially noticeable upon first contact with water. This smell will likely not go away unless you bleach your sponge, which we recommend against as bleaching will weaken the fibers of the sponge, limiting it’s effectiveness as well as how long you’ll be able to use it.

Feel: Your organic sea-sponge will be pretty hard when you receive it. Don’t panic! This is just the outcome of it continuing to dry out. Get it wet and see how soft and fabulous it feels in your hands. It will dry out like this between uses, but will probably never be as hard as it is when it arrives.

Quality: Because your organic sea-sponge doesn’t go through a rigorous, damaging processing, it will last much longer than a processed sea-sponge.

Non-Organic Sea-Sponges

Processing: Non-organic sea-sponges go through several steps that change the texture and overall quality of the sponge. Standard market sea-sponges are washed in commercial size washing machines in a solution that neutralizes acids and removes the naturally occurring sea minerals.

Color: The commercial washing bleaches the sponges. Colors vary from tan to yellow. The wash time determines the color and texture of each sponge.

Smell: These sponges generally have no smell.

Feel: The texture of the processed sponge is much softer when dry than the organic sponge. Although the wet processed sponge texture is similar to the organic sponge, the bleaching has removed the naturally occurring sea minerals and weakened the fibers of this sponge creating a somewhat softer, less durable sponge.

Quality: Because of the rigorous and damaging process the non-organic sea sponge goes through, it has already lost some of its life and can expected to require replacement much more often than the organic sea-sponge.

How long should this sponge last if I use it every day?

We recommend replacing your Organic Sea Sponge on a monthly basis, although if not used every day, it can certainly last longer. Proper care and storage between uses is essential for extending the life of your Organic Sea Sponge.

How should I care for this sponge between uses?

It is very important that this be thoroughly rinsed and dried between uses to get the most use out of your Organic Sea Sponge. Rinsing should involve removing of all soap and excess water. Sponge should be stored in a well-ventilated place where it can air-dry. We recommend the use of a slatted soap dish so excess water can quickly drip off the bottom.

Newborn Cradle Cap Bath Sponge

Instructions For Use:

  1. Rinse thoroughly prior to first use!
  2. Use sponge side to wet baby's head with warm soapy water.
  3. Use brush side to gently scrub baby's head.
  4. Let sit for a few minutes.
  5. Rinse clean.
  6. Rinse sponge, thoroughly remove excess water.
  7. Place in well-ventilated area, bristle side down, to dry.
  8. For prevention and elimination of Cradle Cap, use brush side daily on dry hair.

Is it ok to use this sponge every day?

Absolutely!

What if my baby does not have cradle cap?

This sponge is still ok to use on a daily basis and in fact, while we don’t recommend daily bathing, we do recommend daily brushing for prevention of cradle cap.

Is this sponge organic?

This sponge is non-latex, made of polyurethane foam. It is surgically sterile. It is not organic.

How long should this sponge last if I used it every day?

All sponges are disposable. While you may be able to stretch the life of a sponge by properly caring for and storing between uses, no sponge will last forever. Repeated use will break down the fibers and while keeping it clean and dry will inhibit the growth of bacteria and yeast, the very nature of the use and purpose of this sponge, in particular, makes it necessary that you replace often.

When using daily for bathing or elimination of cradle cap, we recommend that you replace this sponge monthly.

*NO SPONGE LASTS FOREVER*

How should I store/care for newborn-cradle-cap-sponge between uses?

We recommend that you thoroughly rinse and remove excess water from this sponge after each use and store sponge side up on a slatted soap dish, or on a hard surface in any well-ventilated area.
